Automated Feeding Solution for Double-Sheet Overlap by Industrial Robots and Manipulators
With higher automation levels, robotized feeders are increasingly used in stamping. Robots are flexible, precise and efficient, but material overlap during automated feeding remains a problem that can produce defective parts or damage dies.

Under high efficiency, overlap issues can occur. Overlapping sheet feed causes defective parts and may damage tooling. Many manufacturers seek effective solutions to prevent overlap during automated feeding.

Atonm developed an electromagnetic induction based double-sheet detection system that accurately detects single and double stamping sheets, preventing stacked sheets from entering presses and protecting equipment.
Atonm double-sheet detectors feature full-metal housings, LCD/LED displays and automatic parameter matching to address typical double-sheet feeding issues.

Atonm double-sheet detectors consist of a host and two probes: the transmitter probe generates the electromagnetic field and the receiver probe senses it. Different metals shield the field differently; when a sheet passes the field the received signal changes. The controller compares measured signals with learned baselines to decide single or multiple sheets. Magnetic detection depends on intrinsic metal properties and is not affected by light, oil or coatings.
