Key Sensor Areas for the Next 10 Years

Today we briefly discuss key sensor areas for the next decade.

1. MEMS sensors

MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) uses microfabrication to integrate sensors, mechanical elements, actuators and electronics on a common silicon substrate. MEMS is one of the most promising technologies of the 21st century. Current MEMS sensor types include inertial, pressure, flow and temperature sensors, with applications in defense, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace and medical fields.

2. Fiber optic sensors

Fiber optic sensors emerged with fiber and optical communication technology. They offer much higher sensitivity than traditional sensors and can operate in high-voltage, high-noise, high-temperature and corrosive environments. They integrate with remote sensing systems to form fiber optic sensing solutions. Atonm fiber optic sensors are mainly used in electronics (capacitors, lithium batteries, LEDs), mechanical and hardware industries for detection, positioning and counting.

Atonm fiber products include advanced features like zero-point drift compensation, area modes, presets, percentage mode, DTM, edge detection, strong light immunity, high-speed detection and automatic gain control. Typical response times: HSP 100 µs, FINE 250 µs.

3. Wireless sensors

Wireless sensors include both wireless sensor modules and wireless sensor networks. Advances in MEMS and low-power digital ICs enable low-cost, low-power sensor nodes that form wireless sensor networks (WSNs). WSNs are used in greenhouse monitoring, aquaculture, atmospheric monitoring, water pipeline monitoring, gas pipeline monitoring, museum and library environmental monitoring, grain storage, oil and gas fields, smart factories and other fields.

4. Gas sensors

Gas sensors convert gas composition into electrical signals using gas-sensitive elements. They must detect target gases and concentrations without interference, be reusable with long life and stability, and have good dynamic characteristics.

Gas sensors are used for real-time online monitoring of combustible gases in mining, petroleum and chemical industries to detect leaks and avoid major accidents.
