Automated Feeding Detection in Industry: Importance and Necessity of Double-sheet Detection
Double-sheet Detection Controller consists of a terminal and sensors. Sensors are fixed to the machine structure or conveyor and send detection signals to the terminal in real time. The terminal analyzes overlap degree; if overlap is confirmed, it sends a signal to the PLC so the overlapped metal sheet can be ejected, ensuring normal machine operation.
Importance and necessity of double-sheet detection:
1) Ensure production efficiency
For example, manufacturers of tinplate know that a protective oil layer exists on the surface. During feeding before printing or coating, overlapping of two or more tinplate sheets may occur, causing misregistration, jams and damage to rubber rollers. To ensure smooth production, an overlap detection and control function is essential.
2) Save labor
In some lid-making factories, overlapping lids can occur during stamping or rolling processes. These overlapping lids must not enter subsequent stages. Some factories rely on manual inspection to pick them out, which increases labor and risks misses. Installing automatic electronic double-lid overlap detection replaces manual work and saves labor.
3) Prevent material waste
Material waste exists in every manufacturing process. Overlap-related waste accounts for a significant portion; double-sheet detection avoids unnecessary material loss.
4) Protect expensive dies and equipment
Dies are costly components; a set may cost tens of thousands. Overlap during stamping can damage dies, so double-sheet detection prevents double metal sheets from being stamped and protects dies.

Quality and cost are core competitive factors. Effective cost control reduces expenses while high product quality improves customer satisfaction and trust.
