Automotive Parts Anatomy | Comprehensive Illustrated Guide to Auto Parts
Automobiles are a product of modern technology; an ordinary family car usually consists of ten to twenty thousand parts. Professionals in the automotive industry should have a basic understanding of vehicle assembly and parts. Below we use images and captions to provide an introductory overview of common auto parts.
"Exterior Stamped Body Parts"
Main components include the four doors, front hood, rear trunk lid, left and right fenders, left and right side panels, and the roof.
The complete vehicle contains symmetric and asymmetric parts, several movable assemblies (for example the fuel filler assembly is a movable part with an A-class curved outer panel), and welded assemblies.

"Automotive Stamping Production Line"
In many auto parts factories, a fully automated stamping line for metal parts usually consists of industrial robots and stamping presses. Robots handle metal blanks while the presses perform stamping operations. Through multiple presses working in sequence a finished auto part is produced.
During robot feeding it is common to encounter double-sheet overlap caused by oil or surface films. If overlapped blanks enter the press, they can jam and damage the die.
The Atonm 8000S (single-sensor) dual-sheet detector focuses on detecting overlapped metal sheets and outputs a double-sheet signal when overlap occurs during robot feeding.
