Causes of Metal Debris from Stamping Dies and Solutions
Abstract: Causes of die debris during mass stamping production and corresponding solutions
With rapid development of the automotive industry, metal cold stamping is increasingly applied. During stamping production it is difficult to completely prevent debris generated at die cutting edges. Debris produced in stamping can be driven by negative pressure to the die surface, causing part imprints and protrusions on the die surface. Under strict surface quality requirements for automotive exterior panels, this problem seriously affects production efficiency.

The main causes of die debris are stamp material fragments
(1) Excessive clearance at the cutting edge.
Excessive clearance causes parts to tear instead of cleanly shearing, producing irregular debris.
(2) Insufficient clearance at the cutting edge.
If the clearance is too small, the two cutting edges compress the material and produce soft burrs that fall off during production, generating debris.
(3) Broken cutting edge.
Crumbling of the cutting edge causes missing sections and leads to part debris during blanking.
(4) Tool wear.
Tool wear increases cutting clearance and leads to debris during blanking.
Solutions
This metal debris cleaning system includes a "compressed air introduction device", a "waste channel pipe", and a "vacuum suction device". The vacuum suction device installed on the waste channel pipe and the compressed air pipe that introduces compressed air are interconnected so that air and waste in the waste channel pipe flow out through the pipe outlet driven by the compressed air source.
The metal debris cleaning device helps companies solve chip buildup problems, extends die life and improves stamping performance, enhances product quality, and ensures smooth production so assembly lines can meet customer delivery schedules.
