Working Principle and Maintenance of Automatic Aluminum Feeders for the New Energy Industry

With rapid growth in the new energy industry, product precision requirements are rising and manual feeding is no longer sufficient. Automatic feeders play an important role in feeding battery aluminum shells, aluminum terminals and other parts into stamping processes. Below we describe how these feeders operate and how to maintain them.

1. Working principle

Servo automatic feeders use a Mitsubishi servo system to control feed length and count. Settings are made via touchscreen. Feed stroke can be set from 0–10 m, and accuracy is typically within ±0.02 mm. Multi-stage feeding supports integration with material decoilers, precision leveling machines and combination levelers for various stamping production lines.

2. Maintenance

1. Check control panel switches and buttons for proper contact and cleanliness.

2. Inspect external power wiring for deformation, damage, leakage or shorts.

3. Verify hydraulic piping and pressure systems are in good condition.

4. Open the control cabinet and inspect connectors and relays for reliable operation.

5. Inspect press cams for smooth rotation, oil contamination and wear on contact surfaces.

6. Check the servo system for dust accumulation and ensure cooling fans operate correctly.

7. After six months or 1,000 operating hours, perform a full inspection and routine preventive maintenance to extend service life.

Various feeder types exist today such as servo feeders and integrated three-in-one feeders. Choose equipment by product, material and floor space requirements. The above describes basic operation and maintenance practices for automatic feeders used in stamping lines.
