Project Background

A Foshan auto parts manufacturer operates automated production lines. During transfer, parts must enter processing areas with correct orientation; otherwise molds can be damaged and yield affected. The part is a semi-arc cover with metal finish, requiring a sensor to determine whether the bottom or top faces upward.

Solution

Atonm provided a customized solution using the LD1-H200 laser displacement sensor mounted before the processing station. By continuously measuring distance at the target point, the system recognizes the orientation pattern (e.g., small-large-large-small indicates top-up). Data is fed to the host for program comparison and orientation decision, enabling accurate, non-intrusive detection without changing the production flow.

The LD1-H200 provides stable distance detection for material flatness and is compact and easy to install. The customer has used Atonm solution for almost a year with stable performance and positive feedback.
