Atonm Knowledge Base丨Difference Between Mark Sensors and Color Sensors
Recently, many customers asked about the difference between mark sensors and color sensors. Today we explain their differences.
Mark sensors and color recognition sensors differ in function and principle; their detection capabilities also vary.

1. Product functions
Both mark sensors and color sensors are photoelectric sensors. Mark sensors detect grayscale contrast between two color blocks (used for positioning). Color sensors use RGB analysis to identify specific colors.
2. Working principles
Mark sensors emit modulated light and detect reflected grayscale values, comparing received signals with stored references to determine presence or mixed feeding. Color sensors measure RGB reflectance and compare with taught reference colors for higher accuracy.
3. Detection capabilities
Mark sensors perform fast detection of labels and adapt to background variations. RGB color sensors provide high precision for distinguishing similar tones and shades.
We hope this clarifies differences between mark sensors and color sensors.
