Color Sensor Recognition Process
Color sensors can accurately recognize object colors and play important roles in automation, quality inspection and robotics.
Typically, the recognition process includes several steps. First, the sensor emits specific wavelength light—commonly red, green and blue. These lights illuminate the object and are reflected back to the sensor. The sensor performs spectral analysis on the reflected light to determine the proportion of different wavelengths. Based on the analysis, the sensor identifies the color (commonly using RGB) and outputs the information as digital or analog signals for downstream systems.
The recognition process is fast and accurate, enabling use in industrial production for color conformity checks and automated quality control. In robotics, color sensors help robots distinguish objects by color for precise picking and handling. Color sensors are also applied in color sorting, matching and measurement tasks.
