Automotive Stamping Production Process
Automotive stamping processes use presses and tooling to form metal sheets into vehicle body components. Stamping is indispensable in auto manufacturing, affecting quality, performance, appearance, and safety.

The stamping workflow typically includes the following steps:
1. Material preparation:
Before stamping, metal sheets such as steel or aluminum are prepared by cutting and deburring to ensure quality and surface finish.
2. Die design:
Stamping requires dies designed to form sheet metal into the desired shapes. Dies usually consist of an upper and lower die that apply pressure to deform the material into part geometry.
3. Processing techniques:
Common processes include stretching, deep drawing, shearing, and pressing. Stretching is used for thin-walled cup shapes, deep drawing for complex shapes, shearing to cut blanks, and pressing to form parts to die geometry.
4. Forming operations:
Forming is a key stage where cold or hot stamping deforms the sheet into the required part using the die. Consider material formability, stamping performance, and die design for successful forming.
5. Dimensional control:
Control stamping force, speed, and die precision to ensure part dimensions and surface quality. Die adjustments and maintenance help keep consistency.
6. Surface treatment:
After stamping, parts may receive galvanizing, painting, polishing, or other surface treatments to enhance corrosion resistance and appearance.
7. Quality inspection:
Inspect dimensions, shape, and surface quality with measurement instruments to confirm compliance with design specifications.
8. Assembly:
Finally, stamped parts are assembled to build the vehicle body according to design sequences.
In summary, automotive stamping is a precise and complex process. Proper process control and tooling ensure high-quality parts that support vehicle safety and performance. Ongoing innovation in stamping technology will further advance automotive manufacturing.
