Relationship Between Grating Pitch and Resolution
Magnetic grating rulers measure length using a fixed main scale and a sliding vernier. The grating pitch refers to the distance between adjacent scale markings; resolution is the smallest readable increment.
Generally, a smaller pitch yields higher resolution because markings are denser. However, too small a pitch increases manufacturing difficulty and reading challenges. Choose pitch based on measurement range and required precision, and consider other factors such as readhead quality and environment.
