Causes and Prevention of Overlapping Feeding in Stamped Parts
During stamping production, overlapping feeding is a common issue that reduces efficiency, lowers product quality, and can damage equipment. To address this, analyze causes and adopt preventive measures.
Causes
1. Improper operation: operators not following correct feeding procedures, wrong quantities, or failing to clear residual material.
2. Equipment faults: unstable or faulty feeding equipment, poor positioning accuracy of robotic arms, or sensor failures.
3. Improper process parameters: excessive feed speed or incorrect feed intervals can cause overlaps.
Prevention
1. Standardize procedures: establish clear feeding protocols and train operators to follow them, with supervision to ensure compliance.
2. Regular maintenance: inspect and maintain feeding equipment, promptly repair faults, and keep equipment clean to ensure stability and accuracy.
3. Set proper parameters: optimize feed speed and intervals according to part characteristics to ensure stable feeding.
4. Use high-precision sensors: employ accurate sensors to detect piece counts and provide feedback to adjust feeding and avoid overlaps.
Here we introduce a useful detection device—the Atonm Metal Double-Sheet Detector, an optoelectronic overlap detector that senses material thickness and light transmission to determine overlapping feeding. The system consists of a controller and sensors.
The Atonm Metal Double-Sheet Detector works on principles related to electromagnetic induction: T is the transmitter and R is the receiver. When material passes through the field generated by T and R, the received signal varies with shielded area and thickness, allowing the controller to determine single or multiple sheets in the sensing range.

1. Installation: place the Atonm Metal Double-Sheet Detector at an appropriate position and angle to accurately sense thickness and transmission. Determine the optimal location to cover the feeding area.
When the Atonm detector detects overlap, it sends alarms and controller actions such as stopping feed or adjusting position/speed. Alarms or displays can also notify operators.
In summary, by standardizing operation, maintaining equipment, optimizing parameters, and using high-precision sensors, overlapping feeding in stamping processes can be effectively reduced. These measures increase efficiency, protect tooling, and improve production safety and stability. Pay attention to overlap detection and prevention when designing stamping lines.
