Atonm Double-Sheet Detector: The Gatekeeper for Lithium Battery Stacking Machines
As new-energy vehicles surged, demand for power batteries rose sharply and production capacity expanded accordingly. To meet downstream orders, battery manufacturers increased capacity, driving growth in lithium battery equipment.
According to SPIR, China's lithium battery equipment output reached CNY 58.5 billion in 2021 with year-on-year growth exceeding 100%, and 2022 output is expected to surpass CNY 70 billion.

In November 2022, Atonm Tech signed a contract with a leading domestic lithium battery equipment manufacturer (Dongguan). The manufacturer's production line covers electrode manufacturing, cell assembly and formation, and provides intelligent complete equipment and integration for customers including FAW Hongqi.
Why do stacking machines need double-sheet detectors?
Electrode sheets have large contact area and are lightweight; the robot gripper can cause adhesion and overlapping during pick-and-place. An overlapped electrode causes battery scrap, so overlap detection is critical.
Why did the customer choose Atonm detectors?
The customer used an overseas ultrasonic solution initially; it performed during a short honeymoon period but failed frequently after one year and required paid replacements beyond warranty. We identified that ultrasonic transducer high-frequency vibration can cause wear, and the customer agreed this was likely the problem affecting reliability.

Atonm's Metal Double-Sheet Detector uses magnetic induction with no wear and longer service life, and Atonm addressed zero-point drift and sensitivity drift to ensure stable overlap detection.
