Project Background
A Jiangsu manufacturer produces copper-clad laminates (PCBs). The automated feeder picks single PCB boards and transports them to the line for component mounting. If overlapping boards occur, processing cannot proceed and electronic assembly is disrupted.

Project Objective
Objective: Accurately and effectively detect double-sheet overlap.
Challenges: 1. Large sheet size and thickness; 2. Installation area near the magnetic separator.
Solution
This solution uses Atonm Metal Double-Sheet Detector MDSC-1000B with square sensor probes. When the robot arm places the sheet within the detector range, the detector is moved into position to protect the sensor and avoid collisions during feeding. If the detector reports a single-sheet signal, the robot proceeds; if a double-sheet signal is detected, the robot stops and an alarm is issued.

The product consists of a controller and sensor. The controller handles current signal processing; the sensors emit and receive magnetic field signals. Working principle: two sensors form an electromagnetic field when powered. When a metal sheet passes between probes, different thicknesses induce different voltages; the controller analyzes current differences to determine single or double sheets.
Atonm Metal Double-Sheet Detector MDSC-1000B is a high cost-performance detector with anti-interference circuit design, suitable for strong electromagnetic interference environments. It supports multiple high-sensitivity probes and a wide detection range for material thickness and precision.
