In the stamping production of automotive components, single/double-sheet detection during the automated feeding process is critical to product quality and equipment safety. The entry of double sheets into the die can easily cause die damage, workpiece scrapping and production schedule delays.
The customer is a manufacturing enterprise specializing in automotive stamped and rolled parts, and has long supplied components to mainstream automobile manufacturers such as Geely and BYD. Previously, the enterprise's stamping production line adopted imported double-sheet detection equipment. Although it could meet basic detection needs, it had the problem of high procurement and maintenance costs. Under the trend of cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the automotive industry, the enterprise is in urgent need of reliable and cost-effective domestic double-sheet detection equipment to enhance its competitiveness.
The enterprise's stamping production line operates at a cycle rate of 3–8 SPM, processing steel and aluminum sheets with a thickness of 0.5–3.0 mm, and adopts manipulators for material handling. The diverse sheet specifications and manipulator operation mode require the detection equipment to not only adapt to different material thicknesses, but also cooperate efficiently with manipulators to complete detection quickly and accurately.
Atonm provides a solution that combines the Metal Double-Sheet Detector MDSC-9000S with contact probes. The main unit is installed in the cabinet, and the contact sensors are mounted on the end effector, linked with the manipulator. At the moment of material grabbing, the sensors detect the sheets, and the MDSC-9000S performs instant detection and signal output, accurately identifying the single/double-sheet status of sheets of different specifications.

Full Metal Compatibility Detection
Based on the principles of electromagnetic induction and eddy current, it does not require distinguishing between magnetic and non-magnetic materials. It can accurately detect metal sheets such as steel, aluminum, and copper, eliminating the cumbersome operation of frequent parameter switching required by traditional equipment.
High-Efficiency Response and Adaptability
Equipped with a built-in high-speed detection algorithm, it boasts a response speed of 200 pcs/min, which enables it to complete detection within the manipulator's material grabbing cycle and match the 3–8 SPM production line rhythm. It supports the storage of 200 sets of sheet parameters, allowing one-click switching between detection modes for different materials and thicknesses, thus reducing downtime for parameter adjustment.
Anti-Interference, Stability and Reliability
It features an upgraded stacked-sheet detection algorithm and excellent anti-interference capability, which eliminates the impact of external interference factors on detection results and ensures more stable detection performance.
Cost-Effective Domestic Alternative
Compared with imported equipment, it significantly reduces procurement and maintenance costs. Moreover, it supports communication protocols such as Profinet, RS485, and IO, enabling seamless integration with PLC systems and facilitating intelligent production management.
