Solution for Automotive Interior Color Mixing — Atonm Mark Sensor CL4

Project Background

The customer is a global automotive parts supplier focusing on interior/exterior trims, seats, cabin electronics and passive safety. They faced color mixing issues in interior material production and sought a solution.

 

Solution

After discussing requirements, we learned the production uses gray, white and black materials for different interior parts. Occasional color mix-ups occurred, so the customer needed a sensor to distinguish these three colors to prevent errors.

We recommended a high-performance long-range integrated mark sensor — the Atonm Mark Sensor CL4. The CL4 can be taught for the required color (e.g., white). When the correct material passes the CL4 sensing spot, CL4 outputs a signal; when black or gray passes, it does not. The PLC can use this signal to take action such as stopping the line or triggering automated handling.
