Color Detection Case | Atonm CL1 Color Sensor Identifies Phone Shell Color

Project Background

After phone assembly and boxing, we need to ensure the phone is face up in the box. A sensor is used to identify the phone orientation: no signal if face up, or an alert if face down to prompt reboxing.

Project Objective

Objective: Accurately identify phone orientation when it arrives at the target position.

Challenges: 1. Whether the phone can enter the detection position with a stable pose; 2. Whether the Color Sensor can detect the phone body while it passes the detection point.


Solution

During automated boxing, the front display and rear shell have different colors. A Color Sensor recognizes color information to determine whether the phone is face up or face down. If face up, no signal is output and the phone passes; if face down, an alert notifies operators to rebox the phone.

Atonm Color Sensors support color and color+intensity modes. The CL1 sensor detects targets reliably despite position variation and in complex lighting environments.
