Customer Introduction
This customer is an equipment manufacturer based in Dongguan, focused on R&D and production of automated production lines, including feeders, robots, and peripheral automation for punch presses. Over the years they have accumulated rich experience in industrial automation and provide efficient sheet-metal transfer solutions for home appliance and automotive industries.
Project Requirements
The multi-station linked robot is used to transfer sheet-metal parts for home appliance and automotive industries. Before punching, single/dual-sheet detection is required to prevent mold damage. If double sheets are fed into the press, molds can be damaged, causing production stoppage and increased costs.

After understanding the customer's needs, Atonm engineers recommended the MDSC-900E Metal Double-Sheet Detector for this project.
Solution
After the robot picks parts, the MDSC-900E double-sheet detection sensor is added to the workflow. When a sheet passes the sensor, it immediately detects whether the feed is single or double. If double sheets are detected, the robot automatically removes the part from the production line to prevent mold damage. This solution protects molds, reduces material waste, and improves line efficiency.

With the MDSC-900E sensor, double feeds into the press were avoided, reducing mold damage risk and associated replacement cost and downtime.
